All-Star Alphabet (2005) Co-hosted by comedians Stephen Colbert (The Daily Show) and Nicole Sullivan (King of Queens), All Star Alphabet brings fun to phonics in a way that captivates kids and encourages early literacy skills. Starring as costumed letters "A" and "Z", Colbert and Sullivan roam a mall interviewing shoppers and children about the letters they depict. Mall snippets are interspersed between classic Sesame Street footage featuring the neighborhoods' favorite lettermen - Elmo, Cookie Monster, Bert & Ernie and others. Look out for the song by Norah Jones "I Don't Know Y" with Elmo! Also available in VHS.

Join Elmo, Zoe and Grover as they get serious about fitness and nutrition through a variety of entertaining and educational skits and songs. Includes appearances by India Arie, Wyclef Jean and Andy Richter. Also available in VHS.

Elmo's Magic Cookbook (2004) The irrepressible little red star of Sesame Street sizzles in Elmo's Magic Cookbook, but he's not the only celebrity to wave a wooden spoon here. It all begins when the tummy-rumble-inducing book the tape takes its title from is dusted off from its attic-dwelling days. First, it "alakazams" Jean, the ingredient-providing Julia Child of genies, onto Sesame Street for a primer on churning out a champion batch of ice cream (and one that, in one of a number of characteristically superb running gags, nearly causes Telly to collapse from arm fatigue), and then bam!--everybody's favorite Crescent City culinary whiz comes by to create the perfect pizza with the gang. Chef Emeril Legasse does one better than sprinkle the parmesan and pile on the pepperoni with expected panache--he also peels away the mystery of where cheese comes from. When Legasse leaves on a minestrone emergency, another apron-ready star steps in. This time it's singer Heather Headly, here known as Pocket Queen. Elmo, no dummy, is at first resistant to the queen's suggestion that together they cook up some pockets. When she takes him on a video tour of pocket-eating cultures, he warms to the idea and what results is a scrumptious-looking summer roll. Each of the video's cooking segments is intercut with food-related bits from the show - Grover's hilarious gig as a hopeless waiter is one. In addition to a handful of recipes ripe for kid collaboration, this tape serves up customary Sesame-style excellence. No future foodie's video shelf should be without it. Also available in VHS.

Sesame Street Celebrates Around the World (2004) Playing the part of a news anchorperson, Elmo chats with his cousins around the world and discovers how children in different countries celebrate the holidays. Each segment is highlighted with an enchanting song, and other Sesame Street regulars, such as Rosita, keep viewers involved by making appearances throughout the show. A gorgeous mosaic of celebration from across the globe that's both educational and entertaining! Also available in VHS.

Fiesta! (2004) Sesame Street is having a fiesta complete with floats, costumes, and Elmo's favorite new dance - The Conga Wiggle. All the songs are in English and Spanish. Features special guests Linda Ronstadt and Celia Cruz. Also available in VHS.

Sesame Sings Karaoke (2003) Get ready for a musical Sesame Street extravaganza! Something’s in the air on Sesame Street that makes everyone want to sing! Elmo and Rosita break into song when they have a playdate, but can’t find each other! Won’t "Somebody Come and Play?" The music goes on into the night when Sesame Street stays up late to sing more songs - karaoke style. Kids of all ages can sing and dance along to renditions of such Sesame Street favorites as "ABC-DEF-GHI," "You Say Hola," "Ladybug Picnic," "New Way to Walk," "Let’s Go Driving," and "People in Your Neighborhood." And the beat goes on - even with forgotten lyrics, stage fright and a broken karaoke machine! Featuring special guest performance clips by Gloria Estefan, Destiny’s Child and Ben Stiller! Also available in VHS.

Elmo's Sing-Along Guessing Game (2003) Don't miss the musical fun and excitement when Elmo hosts his very own TV game show. Elmo asks the questions, and you can guess the answers in sing-along videos featuring some of your favorite songs. Kermit, Big Bird and more of your Sesame Street pals are on hand for all the high-energy hijinks! Songs: I Love My Elbows, One Fine Face, Get Along, Elmo's Song, Alligator King, Eight Balls of Fur, My Best Friend, I Love Trash, The Lambaba. Also available in VHS.

Zoe's Dance Moves (2003) It's a toe-tapping, finger-snapping good time when Paula Abdul gives Zoe her very first dance lesson! Soon Sesame Street's favorite ballerina is learning how to step with pep in a ballet warm-up, get the beat in her feet from an African drum, be grand with her hands in an Asian dance, and just have fun with Zoe's own Silly Willy Nilly dance. And, that's not all! When Zoe's best friend Elmo joins in, everyone moves and grooves to a hip-hop, feel-good finale that will get you up and dancing along! Also available in VHS.

Let's Make Music (2003) Telly Monster discovers that his tuba is missing from the chair where he had left it, and spends this episode of Sesame Street looking for it. Besides Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, and Bert, this episode also stars members of Stomp. Bert discovers a blue Muppet man who makes tuba noises through his mouth; six youngsters perform a tap dance with no music other than their own clapping and tapping; several pairs of hands make rhythmic noises with tin cans, balls, hats, and paper bags; three children use pots, lids, barrels, washboard, and tambourine as percussion instruments. An animated sequence follows a pinball on its journey through the pinball machine. Oscar teaches the "Groucheteers" to make music with tin cans. A Muppet bear and three humans make music with glass bottles partly filled with water. When Elmo and Luke finally convince Telly he can make music without his tuba, he sees the two fellows who took it. He retrieves the tuba, but instead of blowing into it, he taps on it with his fingers.

Computer Caper (2002) This lively 50-minute program uses live action, animation, and music to introduce computers to the preschool set. The caper begins when Telly gets an e-mail account and Luis helps him send a message to friends. Several characters, including Sesame Street favorites like Cookie Monster and Oscar, write back - and someone who signs their message, "Your Mystery Friend." Telly has no idea who this could be, so he joins up with Baby Bear and they follow the clues until the mystery is solved. Computer Caper is an enjoyable look at basic concepts such as the screen, keyboard, mouse and some of the uses to which computers can be applied. This DVD includes a bonus episode of Elmo's World. Also available in VHS.

Elmo Visits the Firehouse (2002) After a fire on Sesame Street gives Elmo a scare, he and Maria visit a real New York City firehouse. Finding out about all the protective clothes firefighters wear and practicing how to "Get Low and Go" helps Elmo feel safe again. And he even gets to slide down a real fire pole! Then a special Elmo’s World all about Firefighters helps kids understand much more about what to do if there is a fire. Also available in VHS.

Elmo Says Boo (2002) A Halloween treat. Elmo visits fellow Sesame Street Muppet the Count in the latter's castle--and gets scared for a moment. But only a moment, as more friends from the television program show up, and jokes, songs, and surprises abound. Among the clever tunes: "Transylvania 1-2-3-4-5," "We Are All Monsters," and "Frazzle." Also available in VHS.

The Best of Elmo (2001) The Sesame Street character has fun singing some catchy new songs (you and your toddler just might, too), explaining the difference between light and heavy, having a laugh over pictures and numbers, and sharing the screen with a good-natured Whoopi Goldberg and Julia Roberts. Of the various Elmo videos, this one really does have the choicest material and stands up to repeat viewings--a big plus with little ones. Also available in VHS.

The Great Numbers Game (2001) 1 to 20 is your aim if you want to play this game. With a push of the start button, Elmo, Telly and Gabi find themselves inside The Great Numbers Game. Each number they find leads them to one of Sesame Street's classic counting cartoons. Who will be the winner? Everyone wins when they play The Great Numbers Game! Also available in VHS.

The Alphabet Jungle Game (2001) The sharp minds at the Children's Television Workshop have found a clever way to recycle their "letter of the day" animated shorts and entertainingly educate the youngsters. Elmo, Zoe, and Telly--along with three kids, of course--host this delightful a-to-y cartoonathon. (The missing z is part of the "plot.") The shorts are sandwiched between the catchy "Alphabet Jungle" song and the mesmerizing "African Animal Alphabet," which should get those little couch potatoes up and boogying down to the jungle beat. Adults within earshot may even find themselves indulging in a little toe-tapping. Also available in VHS.

Elmo's Musical Adventures: Peter & The Wolf (2001) Elmo and all your favorite Sesame Street characters get together to show how music and imagination can tell a story in this delightful Sesame Street special! Watch special guest stars Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Orchestra, along with Elmo and your Sesame Street friends, tell the musical story of Prokofiev's children's classic "Peter and the Wolf." DVD includes special features "Meet the Sesame Street Muppets", Boston Pops performance of "Peter and the Wolf", and 2 interactive games.

CinderElmo (2000) Our favorite little red monster is the star of this delightful film that playfully skews the story of Cinderella. Originally aired on Fox television in 1999, the feature is a playful mix of human actors and Sesame Street characters that is an easy watch for families with 3- to 7-year-olds. Cinderelmo (he's a boy, if you didn't know) dreams of playing in a castle and meeting the princess (Keri Russell). Unfortunately his mean--but not that mean--stepmother (Kathy Najimy) wants her two other sons to go to the ball at which the princess must declare whom she wishes to marry. Appearing in various small roles are plenty of the Sesame Street gang, including Grover, Kermit, Cookie Monster, Bert, and Ernie. The film is certainly focused on the youngsters (as opposed to the slightly older audience of the Muppet films), but there are plenty of puns and wry humor for adults to enjoy. Also available in VHS.

Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland (1999) Welcome to Grouchland, U.S.A., place of a thousand stenches. This is where everyone's favorite red monster winds up when he stars in his first feature film, The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland. Elmo learns a lesson when he refuses to share his blanket with his best friend, Zoe, then loses it in Oscar's can, where it goes all the way to Grouchland. There the beloved blanket winds up in the clutches of the greediest man alive, Huxley (played by Mandy Patinkin), and Elmo has to venture alone to Huxley's lair to get it back. The Sesame Street gang follows Elmo but ends up in the Grouchland jail. Fortunately, whenever things start looking too bleak, our hosts Ernie and Bert stop the film and offer reassurance. This 73-minute film has plenty to entertain the youngsters as well as details and inside jokes for parents. And of course there are marvelous animated effects including a dancing Elmo. The songs are fun and bouncy, and veteran performers Patinkin and Vanessa Williams (as the Queen of Trash) contribute their exceptional talent.

Elmo in Grouchland Sing and Play (1999) This 45-minute short contains Sesame Street songs from the old days right up to the 1999 theatrical feature The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland. Elmo hosts this companion piece to the theatrical film. However, the final product should put a smile on the faces of Elmo fans. Besides the songs from the movie, the Sesame Street gang sings (and words appear for the audience) pop tunes ("Sing") and classic songs from the show ("C is for Cookie," "Rubber Ducky"). The tape also contains an extended segment of Sesame Street in which Elmo learns all about bouncing balls. Also available in VHS.

Elmo Saves Christmas (1997) The show opens on a Christmas scene, featuring Maya Angelou explaining to Muppet characters how Elmo once got his wish that every day could be Christmas - and soon regretted it. Charles Durning and Harvey Fierstein are also on board, and there's a new friend in Lightning the reindeer, plus lots of songs. The whooshing Christmas-season feel to the story is infectious. Also available in VHS.

Elmopalooza! (1998) It's an all-star music and laughfest with Elmo, his fellow Sesame Street Muppets, and such special guests as Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, The Fugees, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Rosie O'Donnell, Chris Rock and others. This nonstop revue is a blast for parents as well as little ones. Also available in VHS.

Elmocize (2002) With an emphasis on the good feelings that go with fitness, this program is set at Elmo's exercise camp and features kids and Muppets bending, stretching, and generally getting more fit. Cyndi Lauper is the appealing guest star, the banter between Muppets is funny, and songs include "Workout in a Chair" and "Do the Benny Hop." Also available in VHS.

25th Birthday Musical Celebration (1997) Join Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Burt, Ernie, Elmo and the rest of Jim Henson's Sesame Street gang as they celebrate the show's 25th birthday! This fun-filled musical collection includes classic songs performed by the Muppets, including "C is for Cookie," "Monster in the Mirror," "Bein' Green," "Rubber Ducky" and so many more that even the Count might lose track. Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World DVDs

Elmo's World: Food, Water & Exercise (2005) Elmo encourages preschoolers to eat right and exercise in this episode of Elmo's World. Always upbeat and eager to learn, Elmo explores healthy foods from around the world and helps little ones understand the saying "You are what you eat." Elmo also takes his friends on an exciting scuba diving adventure and shows how exercising can be both healthy and fun by inviting everyone to join him in dancing the bunny hop. Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: The Street We Live On (2004) A glorious celebration of the show's 35th year and its lovable bunch of characters, this disc focuses largely on Elmo, one of Sesame Street's most endearing puppets. The entire cast is along for the ride as well, including Bert and Ernie, Cookie Monster, the Count and many others! Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Families, Mail & Bath Time! (2004) Elmo invites young viewers to explore three subjects of enormous interest to kids. First up: What makes a family? Elmo looks at all sorts of families and talks about the joy of being part of one. He also explores how mail journeys from the sender to the recipient, and then ends the episode with a discussion on how to keep clean while he takes a dip in a soothing bath. Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Elmo Has Two (2004) Listen closely, it’s a finger-snapping, toe-tapping good time! With help from Mr. Noodle, Rosita, Baby Bear and everyone’s favorite goldfish Dorothy, Elmo finds out all the different things his body can do as he plays patty cake, hops on one foot, wiggles his ears and more. Whether Elmo and friends are practicing sign language, playing soccer, or listening to music, this Elmo’s World video is the perfect place for preschoolers to learn all about their bodies and the world around them. Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: The Great Outdoors (2003) Get ready to explore the great outdoors with Elmo and learn all about Fish, Weather and Wild Animals! Wild Animals, Fish and Weather! With a dancing shade, a mischievous drawer, a frisky television and a playful computer, Elmo’s World is the perfect place for preschoolers to learn all about the world around them. So if you want to know what to wear in the rain, where a fish lives or which animals are wild, it’s time to visit Elmo’s World! Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Head to Toe With Elmo (2003) Although not the preschooler's body-part primer implied by its title, Head to Toe with Elmo simply unfolds the great mysteries of jackets, hats, and shoes. This combo induces plenty of chuckles for Elmo, the scruffy red-furred host who loves interviewing kids, babies, talking clothing, and his pet goldfish. As little Elmo flits about his crayon-scribbled environs, he poses lots of questions to preschoolers at home: "How do you put on your jacket?" "Who wears hats and who doesn't?" and "What do shoes do when nobody is wearing them?" Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Happy Holidays (2002) In the first-ever "Elmo's World" holiday special, Elmo is gearing up to celebrate Christmas. But what present will he give Dorothy, his beloved goldfish? As he searches for an answer, Elmo learns about holidays around the world and discovers the many things that Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa have in common. Finally, Elmo goes to the North Pole, where Santa has some expert advice about the true spirit of Chirstmas - and the perfect gift for Dorothy! This DVD is included in the Sesame Street Holiday DVD 3-Pack Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Singing, Drawing & More (2002) Join Sesame Street's curious red monster, as he explores singing, drawing and telephones! Elmo's World offers kids and adults a fresh and light-hearted take on the world around them. Each episode comes to life in Elmo's bright, exciting and very original room - the drawer, door, shade and TV all join in the fun. And he's even visited by a Muppet opera diva and a talking Muppet phone! Don't forget to watch this one with the Elmo Cell Phone. Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Flowers, Bananas & More (2002) Includes Elmo's World episodes on Flowers, Bananas, and Hair. The Flowers episode cuts away from Elmo's crayon-filled playroom to follow a real, live boy in his quest to grow a plant. Through Elmo's lively voiceover, we learn that by filling a glass with a paper towel, a bean, and some water you can grow a bean pod, which is just what Elmo does, along with interviewing a friendly cactus and showing us a homemade video of Stinky the Plant, back in his world. In Bananas Mr. Noodle's usual bumbling with the object in question (Is it a telephone? A horn? A pen?) is a barrel of laughs, and we meet Top Banana, a spectacles - and bow tie-clad chap who brings his breed's health benefits to light. Hair, the final segment, is especially enlightening because every manner of the curious stuff shows up for a brief but thoughtful examination. By tuning us in to the Hair Channel, which is featuring a cartoon called "The Kingdom Where Everybody Wore His Hair the Same Way," Elmo leads us to the truth about hair: kinky or straight, short or long, everybody's got it, and what a person chooses to do with it doesn't count for much. Though it's bound to be a repeat for most kids, this is a tape that'll grow on budding botanists, stylists, and Elmo groupies in general. Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Babies, Dogs & More (2002) Elmo chuckles his way through this delightful 50-minute compilation of three favorite "Elmo's World" episodes. First come the babies: real babies, Muppet babies, and animal babies. With help from Mister Noodle, a cast of Muppets, and video vignettes featuring humans, Elmo discovers what babies can do and how to play with them. Next come the dogs. Once again, Elmo's on the move - this time to share important tips about respecting the family pet. The final episode examines life on the farm. Viewers will observe youngsters accomplishing daily farm chores as well as Muppet farmers and barn animals punning around. As Elmo bops around his house (simply drawn and "furnished" with color crayon sketches), he chats with Dorothy the pet goldfish, poses questions to Mister Noodle, and tunes in to his friendly television for helpful cartoons presented by "The Baby Channel," "The Dog Channel," and of course, "The Farm Channel." Educational and entertaining for the younger crowd, each segment explores its topic using a variety of creative, quick-paced methods, enhanced by an upbeat soundtrack. Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Birthdays, Games & More (2002) While it's true that Elmo's World is one that most 2- to 5-year-olds wouldn't mind waking up to any day of the week, Birthdays, Games & More makes plain that, as far as preschool meccas go, this is as good as it gets. Here, the furry little red guy gets the festivities under way watching real, live kid friends festoon pretty packages with colorful bows (his way of answering the endlessly curious Dorothy's question about how to wrap a present) before tuning into the Birthday Channel for a whirlwind trip to Mexico, where ebullient kids whack away at a piñata, and Israel, where a dizzy gang dips to the ground, doing its best to put on hats sans hands. After a chat with a talking birthday cake, it's game time. A chubby baby gets his toes tweaked in a round of "This Little Piggy"; Ernie and his ducky stop by via e-mail to demonstrate hide-and-go-squeak; and a couple of kids crack Elmo up with their search for Thumbkin, first in English, then in Spanish. The games give way, in a third segment, to a pack of pets. Mr. Noodle the lovable numbskull tries to play fetch with a fish; Elmo's tricky drawer trots out a parade of lettuce, a tiger, and a Telly monster, hoping for some help with the question "What can be a pet and what can't?"; and friend Alisa shows off Fluffy, her cat, and dog Spike. Taken together, Birthdays, Games & More is 60 minutes of playful, furry fun destined to be dusted off for repeat watchings by all wannabe Elmo's World inhabitants. Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Wake up with Elmo! (2002) Waking up is easier when your friend Elmo is there to help you greet the day! Join him as he learns all about sleep, getting dressed, and teeth. With a dancing shade, a mischievous drawer, a frisky television and a playful computer, Elmo's World is the perfect place for preschoolers to learn all about the world around them, And Elmo has help from his friends Bert & Ernie, Mr. Noodle and the Count to aswner questions like "how do you go to sleep,?" "how do you button a shirt?" and "how do you taken care of your teeth?" In Elmo's World, learning is always fun! Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Springtime Fun (2002) Spring is here, and Elmo is celebrating with three B's: Birds, Bugs and Bicycles! With a dancing shade, a mischievous drawer, a frisky television and a playful computer, Elmo's World is the perfect place for preschoolers to learn all about the world around them. And Elmo has lots of friends, both new and old, to answer questions like "where do birds live," "how do bugs get from place to place," and how many wheels does a tricycle have?" In Elmo's World, birds, bugs and bicycles talk, and learning is always fun! Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Dancing, Music, and Books (2001) Everyone's favorite preschool monster demonstrates three activities in this compilation of some popular "Elmo's World" segments from Sesame Street. Joining him are segment regulars Dorothy the pet goldfish and Mr. Noodle, the lovable, bumbling adult stand-in for children, who makes mistakes but perseveres until he gets it right. In each episode, real children also take turns mastering the skill. In "Dancing," Elmo shows off his finesse at the flamenco and hula, while the children choose more free-form moves. (Elmo's monster friend Zoe also makes a cameo appearance.) In "Books," a boy and his father visit the library in search of dinosaur books. And in "Music," kids play the flute and violin, while Mr. Noodle is a little slow in learning to bang the drum. For parents who meant to tape the "Elmo's World" segments, but never quite did it, this 45-minute video is a lucky break. Primarily for ages 2-5, but Elmo fans of all ages will enjoy it. Also available in VHS.

Elmo's World: Wild Wild West (2001) Sesame Street's favorite furry red cowpoke saddles up to learn all about the wild frontier. Join Elmo as he finds out how to ride a horse, kicks up his heels at a hoe down, boards a time-traveling magic stagecoach and more! Elmo takes viewers young and old on a wonderful ride through the very best of the Wild Wild West! Also features the Sesame Street segment, Monster Clubhouse. This DVD includes many special features including Sing-a-longs, Learn the Noodle dance, a matching game, web links, and printable coloring pages. Also available in VHS.
